SINOPSIS

I think it is a necessary book, I recommend it to everyone regardless of their age. It is not a teenage love story like any other, it is a great reality in millions of homes

Violet is broken. Finch is broken. Can two broken halves be rebuilt? This is the story of a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die; of two young people who meet and stop counting the days to start living them.

PERSONAL ASSESSMENT

Justification

I decided to read this book because it touches very sensitive topics such as depression, feeling misunderstood and other types of mental illness. It seems to me more than an original idea it is a topic that goes beyond the typical arguments of juvenile books and is very necessary. I think they should write more about these issues to make people aware of it. So people instead of giving back to that person for being "weird" or getting out of what they consider "normal", could understand it and thus help.

Plot

The book deals with two teenagers who know each other in a strange situation: both are about to commit suicide, in high school she will remain as the heroine to save Finch although in reality he saved her. Little by little they discover things of both while they have to do a job for the geography class. The two are "broken", hurt or fucked by different events that have happened throughout their lives, and in reality, that is what ends up joining them. In the end each one will try to "save" the other.

Characters

  • Violet Markey: A popular young woman, who went to parties with her friends, cheerleader, had her own online magazine with her sister ... or rather it was that way before her sister Eleonor passed away. His death makes her change completely and rethink her life completely
  • Theodore Finch: He is a somewhat "freak" young man, with mood swings and his hobbie is looking for effective ways to commit suicide. He will help Violet to discover herself and face all the fears and anxieties that surfaced when her sister's accident happened.

Atmosphere

The whole story is developed in Indiana, while the two protagonists have to do a job for Geography about the most important places in their city. In principle they have to do the work on two places, but they end up going to all and being special places for both of them.

Writing style
