Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

PERSONAL VALORATION

JUSTIFICATION
I started reading this book because it was from the same writer as the Twilight saga. At that moment I really liked enjoyed that saga and decided to give it a try. I must confess that, at first I had a hard time reading it since the plot did not hooked me at all. But, as I was reading, I ended up liking it more and more. It seems to me an original idea but with Meyer’s fixation for the loving trios.

PLOT
It begins with the explanation that the Earth is being invaded by an extraterrestrial species called "souls". Melanie got a “soul” (called Wanda) introduced into her body. introduce into her body a "soul" (called Wanda). Wanda begins her life in Melanie's body, but Melanie has not died, she will have to face the hard coexistence with her, which does not stop fighting. Both embark on a journey to find Jaimie (Melanie's brother) and Jared (his partner), but, surprisingly, they will eventually find more people. During this trip Wanda will have to clear up those confused feelings, face many things ... Why do humans hate "souls", their kind, if they only want to improve better this world? Can you gain their trust? Is it impossible to live with them?

CHARACTERS
  • Melanie: She is a temperamental fighter, with a somewhat unstable character compared to Wanderer. She is passionately in love with Jared, and shares a strong relationship with her younger brother Jamie. He comes to love Wanderer as a sister. In the end She ends up giving great lessons to the innocent Wanderer about how cruel reality is.
  • Wanderer / Wanda: It is the "soul" that inhabits Melanie's body. She has an innocent character, she is inclined to do good and dislikes any type of violence, besides she puts other selves the needs of others before hers. She feels a great affection for Melanie, Jaimie, Jared, and especially Ian, to whom she falls deeply in love at the end. Throughout this story you will learn many things about humans and about herself.

I could also say that Jaimie, Jared, Ian and the wonderful "Uncle Jeb", are important characters but Melanie and Wanda are the main ones.

ATMOSPHERE
I find it very interesting how they manage to make their own "camp" or "home" somewhere in the mountains, and that from the small corners each one makes his own home. That peculiarity makes it a little particular, as they struggle to survive in there with few resources ... as they have to "get together" or become a kind of clan... and especially how they all collaborate to get the available resources.

WRITING STYLE
Stephanie's writing style is good, she has created a good story from a great idea. There are a couple of things that I did not like so much:

  • As in Twilight, she plays a lot with the love’s trios, in this case, in this case, I like it its use more in this book that in Twilight. In this case, two people living in the same body, it seems more logical that they two end up having the same feelings for Jared.
  • When things start to get interesting, everything happens either in Melanie's house, or in the caves, and this can be a bit boring. Therefore, the author seems to use Melanie's flashbacks to make it more enjoyable. Besides that there is very little action, and most of it happens in the end.

GENERAL COMMENT

At first, it can be a bit heavy, and even the synopsis may seem strange, but it is something out of the ordinary, it deals with problems that other books do not deal with (like discrimination) and it especially teaches you the two faces of humanity.

"Without a doubt, this was the best and the worst of all the worlds: the most wonderful feelings, most
Exquisite emotions, the most evil desires, the most sinister events. "
