[ESP] NOVEDADES EDITORIALES: ENERO 2018

Aquí os dejamos las publicaciones literarias que más ganas tenemos de leer de este mes de enero. En este caso os vamos a proponer únicamente un libro por cabeza, porque estamos aún abrumadas por la apertura del blog.

PROPUESTA DE MARTA:

“Forest of a Thousand Lanterns” de Julia C. Dao

Sinopsis: Una fantasía del este de Asia reinventando la leyenda de The Evil Queen sobre la búsqueda de una chica campesina para convertirse en emperatriz, y la oscuridad que debe desencadenar para alcanzar su destino.

Diez años de edad, Xifeng es hermoso. Las estrellas dicen que está destinada a la grandeza, que está destinada a ser emperatriz de Feng Lu. Pero solo si ella abraza la oscuridad dentro de ella. PROPUESTA DE SARU:

“Little Women & Good Wives” de Louisa May Alcott

Sinopsis: “Little Women” es una de las historias infantiles más queridas de todos los tiempos, basada en las propias experiencias juveniles de la autora. Describe la vida familiar de las cuatro hermanas March que viven en una pequeña comunidad de Nueva Inglaterra, Meg, la mayor, es bonita y desea ser una dama; Jo, a los quince años es desgarbada y poco convencional con la ambición de ser escrutora; Beth es una niña delicada de trece años con gusto por la música y Amy es una belleza rubia de doce. La historia de sus aventuras domésticas, sus intentos de aumentar los ingresos familiares, su amistad con la vecina familia Lawrence y sus amores posteriores siguen siendo tan frescas y seductoras como siempre. “Good Wives” retoma la historia de las hermanas March, unos tres años más tarde, cuando, como jóvenes adultas, deben hacer frente a las inevitables pruebas y traumas de la vida cotidiana en su búsqueda de la felicidad individual.

PROPUESTA DE ROCÍO: 

“The YoungQueens” (Three Dark Crown 0.5) de Kendare Blake

Sinopsis: Tres brujas negras, nacidas de una reina que desciende. Una se elevaría para convertirse en reina en su lugar. Quizás la más fuerte de las tres. Quizás la más lista. O tal vez sería la niña nacida bajo la mejor de las suertes. Katharine, Arsinoe y Mirabella, tres jóvenes reinas nacidas para cumplir su destino, luchan a muerte para ganar la corona. Pero antes de que fueran envenenadoras, elementales y naturalistas, eran niñas, hermanas y amigas…

Here we leave the literary publications that we most want to read of this month of January. In this case we are going to propose only one book per head, because we are still overwhelmed by the opening of the blog.

MARTA’S PROPOSAL:

“Forest of a Thousand Lanterns” by Julia C. Dao

Abstract: An East Asian fantasy reimagining of The Evil Queen legend about one peasant girl's quest to become Empress--and the darkness she must unleash to achieve her destiny. Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfill the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng's majestic future. SARU’S PROPOSAL:

“Little Women & Good Wives” by Louisa May Alcott

Abstract: Little Women is one of the best-loved children's stories of all time, based on the author's own youthful experiences. It describes the family life of the four March sisters living in a small New England community, Meg, the eldest, is pretty and wishes to be a lady; Jo, at fifteen is ungainly and unconventional with an ambition to be an author; Beth is a delicate child of thirteen with a taste for music and Amy is a blonde beauty of twelve. The story of their domestic adventures, their attempts to increase the family income, their friendship with the neighbouring Lawrence family, and their later love affairs remains as fresh and beguiling as ever. Good Wives takes up the story of the March sisters, some three years later, when, as young adults, they must face up to the inevitable trials and traumas of everyday life in their search for individual happiness.

ROCÍO’S PROPOSAL:

Abstract: Three black witches, born to a descending queen. One would rise to become queen in her place. Perhaps the strongest of the three. Perhaps the cleverest. Or perhaps it would be the girl born under the best shield of luck. Katharine, Arsinoe and Mirabella - three young queens born to fulfil their destiny - to fight to the death to win the crown. But before they were poisoner, elemental and naturalist, they were children, sisters and friends . . .
